Tatvamasi is a cultural and philosophical exploration of timeless Tatvas, spiritual poetry, and ancient expressions of truth that continue to resonate across generations.
Conceived by Smita Vallurupalli, Tatvamasi is envisioned as an immersive artistic experience that brings profound philosophical thought into a contemporary visual and musical language.
At the heart of the project is a compilation of 100 ancient Tatvas written by liberated souls across centuries, timeless words of the truly free, offered to humanity through poetry, music, and wisdom.
Tatvas are not religious texts. They are human truths.
They speak to the very core of existence, exploring social injustice, equality, philosophy, bhakti, compassion, truth, liberation, and the nature of the Self. Transcending religion, caste, geography, language, and time, these compositions carry a universality that remains deeply relevant today.
Drawing inspiration from saint-poets and philosophers such as Annamacharya, Vemana, and Adi Shankaracharya, the project reinterprets ancient wisdom through soulful music and evocative visual storytelling.
More than a collection of songs, Tatvamasi combines cinematic visuals, symbolic imagery, and philosophical interpretation to communicate the deeper meaning behind each Tatva, creating an experience that is not only heard, but felt and reflected upon.
But the journey of Tatvamasi does not end with music and film.
The project will evolve into a live experiential performance, with Smita touring alongside her team to bring these timeless truths closer to audiences in a deeply personal and immersive way.
Tatvamasi is being brought to life in collaboration with the team behind several landmark live experiences, including productions featuring Ilaiyaraaja Live, M. M. Keeravani Live, A. R. Rahman, the Wonderment Tour, and landmark events such as Lionel Messi’s visit to Hyderabad.
As part of the Tatvamasi – Nāda to Nirvana tour, Dakshin Stories is also launching a new experiential brand, Indian Raagas, dedicated to creating immersive musical and cultural journeys rooted in Indian artistic traditions.
