We were the first to inform you that Kannada actress Sapthami Gowda, who created waves with her earnest performance as a forest guard in Rishab Shetty’s last year monster hit Kantara, will be making her Telugu debut with Nithiin-starrer Thammudu, directed by Sriram Venu. Staying with this film, we hear that the script has provision for another actress in a key role and the role has landed in the lap of Varsha Bollamma, who is known for her turns in films like Middle Class Melodies, Swathi Muthyam and Stand Up Rahul
A source close to the development tells us, “While Varsha doesn’t have a full-length role; it has its own importance in propelling the narrative forward. It is the reason why the diminutive actress, who is selective with her assignments, hopped on board. The nature of her role, however, is under a tight lock and key. She briefly shot for the film in the first schedule.”
Thammudu went on floors in Hyderabad earlier this month, with the first schedule going on for a week. It was significantly shot at LB Stadium during this leg. The source goes on to add that some portions of the film have an archery backdrop. “With Nithiin juggling between the final leg of Vakkantham Vamsi’s Extra and his untitled film with Venky Kudumula, the next schedule of Thammudu is slightly delayed but once it starts the makers are looking to film portions in New Delhi and Rajahmundry,” the source concludes.
Renowned director of cinematography, Sethu (Satyajit Pande), who worked for acclaimed films like Dangal, Kahaani and Taare Zameen Par, is debuting in Telugu with Thammudu, which is a production venture of Dil Raju and Sirish under Sri Venkateswara Creations.
