The trailer of Thandel, featuring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, was released at an event in Vizag on Tuesday and it has all the elements a movie lover would crave for- romance, action, patriotism and a pinch of suspense.

Clocking two minutes and 22 seconds, the trailer opens with Sai Pallavi’s character, saying to Raju (played by Chaitanya) that the entire village is speaking in different tones about their relationship. “If they are talking about us, then we’ve become famous,” Raju replies in Srikakulam accent. The duo is head over heels in love and can’t imagine leaving each other. They share a sizzling chemistry and the backdrop of an ocean only adds to the charm of their love story. Raju soon becomes the Thandel of a fishing group and Sai Pallavi later pops up the question of marriage to him. At one point, Raju has to leave for fishing much against her wishes. On his journey, he and his companions have to weather a storm and in no time see themselves in Pakistani waters before the Pakistani authorities put them in jail. However, Raju is not the one to lose his spirit. He gets into a battle with anyone who belittles India. Will he come back and unite with Pallavi seems to form the crux of the story, promising an emotionally rich love story. And oh yes, the makers also reveal the meaning of Thandel, which means leader.

Rounding up, the trailer immerses us in the bond that the lead pair shares and when one of them is separated we can’t help, but feel sad. Devi’s dramatic music with a touch of patriotic flavor and impactful dialogues create a palpable tension that builds anticipation on how things unfold next. The cinematography is spectacular, capturing the sea-bordering village and fast-paced action sequences with finesse. As mentioned above, Chay and Pallavi are on fire with their chemistry, while everyone can notice the production values.

Produced by Bunny Vas under Geetha Arts, Thandel, directed by Chandoo Mondeti, sails into cinemas on February 7th.
