A day before Naga Chaitanya rings in his 37th birthday on Thursday, the makers of his anticipated next with Chandoo Mondeti disclosed the film’s title as Thandel.
Thandel the word has no Telugu roots and it has certainly sparked curiosity and excitement among Chay fans on its meaning and more. Don’t worry; we have the answer for you.
Thandel is a word widely used by Gujarati and Pakistani fisher folks. It translates to the captain of a fishing boat or leader among the fishermen.
In Thandel, Naga Chaitanya plays the role of fisherman from Srikakulam and the film, based on real incidents, narrates his tumultuous journey, with the shooting set to take place mostly in original locations.
From his looks to lingo, Chay is undergoing a dramatic transformation for the film and it’s evident in the first look poster, which sees the actor, in a thick beard, flaunting his chiseled body, while sternly gazing at the sea.
Sai Pallavi has been roped in opposite Chay in Thandel, while renowned technicians like Devi Sri Prasad and Shamdat will look after the music and cinematography departments respectively. The film has been in the pre-production for the last three months and the principal photography kicks off next month.
