Leading production house People Media Factory had a rather forgetful 2024 with their releases like Mr Bachchan, Swag and Viswam failing to live up to the expectations and going out like the briefest of candles at the box office. Sharwanand-starrer Manamey, which opened earlier this summer, was just about average. In this regard, founder TG Vishwa Prasad pinned a lot of hopes on his big-ticket film The Rajasaab, starring Prabhas, hoping to be in the black again and he even announced a release date–April 10, 2025– for the film sometime earlier this year.
In the making for over a couple of years, The Rajasaab, at the time of release date announcement, was on track to arrive on April 10, with the filming set to be completed by November-end. But as things stand now, the filming is yet to be complete. As is the case with most Prabhas’ films, there is a veil of secrecy surrounding the project and only the makers can comment on the shoot status. Even if the shoot wraps up by January or February end, sources say the post-production may take time as the film boasts of a number of VFX shots, which means the chances of the film arriving on April 10 are remote.
On the other hand, PMF is also highly positive about the box office prospects of Mirai, which features Teja Sajja, Manchu Manoj and Ritika Nayak in the lead roles. The couple of teasers dropped so far have only heightened expectations around the movie. The makers announced its release date as April 18 but our sources say the film might not make it on the intended date. The shooting is slightly delayed and the makers are looking to wrap it up February-end or mid March. And guess what? This film too has extensive VFX work. With the film targeted for a release in Bengali, Marathi and Chinese languages besides the South languages, it is anyone’s guess whether they will risk the film for April 18th without giving the time it deserves for post-production.
Getting a wind of the aforementioned releases being deferred, the makers of Siddhu Jonnaladda-fronted Jack and Anushka-starrer Ghaati have now booked their berths on April 10 and April 18 respectively. Now that's what we call the right timing.
