Having wrapped up 80 percent of his untitled next with Gowtam Tinnanuri, Vijay Deverakonda will be diving into Rahul Sankrityan’s next shortly. While the initial plan was to take the film to floors after Sankranti, delay in shoot of Gowtam’s film means that Rahul has to wait a little longer.
Going by the name #VD14 as of now, the project is an anticipated one as it marks Vijay and Rahul teaming up after the super hit Taxiwaala. Add to the fact that Mythri Movie Makers is producing it; there’s widespread attention surrounding it. The latest about the project is that the makers have hired the services of duo Ajay-Atul for the musical score.
A source close to the development tells us exclusively, “While the makers initially eyed another A-lister, it didn’t go through as planned. Later, they roped in Ajay and Atul who are a familiar name in Bollywood and Marathi industry. Rahul is a big fan of the duo’s works like Sairat, Agneepath (2012), Tumbbad and Adipurush. They are excellent with his genre of films like folk, grandeur and melody, so it was no surprise that he got them on board.”
#VD14 will be Ajay-Atul’s third film in Telugu after Ravi Teja-starrer Shock, which had the celebrated Madhuram Madhuram song, and Adipurush, whose songs still ring fresh in the ears of music lovers. Their compositions often feature live instruments and draw from a mix of traditional and contemporary styles. They won a national award for the Marathi film Jogwa - The Awakening (2009). In fact, they are also in the running to compose music for Balagam Venu Yeldandi’s next directorial, Yellamma, starring Nithiin.
Set in colonial India (1854-78), #VD14 narrates the story of a short-lived hero (played by Deverakonda), with a strong emotional core and scintillating action. The first schedule will begin in Hyderabad, with filming set to take place extensively in Rayalaseema region as well.
