Continuing their association of backing young talent, producers Anurag Reddy and Sharath Chandra of Chai Bisket Films and Chandru Manoharan of Lahari Films have almost completed a new feature which features popular late ‘90s and aughts leading man Venu Thottempudi in a prominent role and marks the directorial debut of Surya who made short films in the past. “The as-yet-untitled film is a social drama meets thriller space. It is set in a Telangana town and shoot is over except for 10 days of work. Once the shoot is completed, the master promotional strategists they are, Anurag and Sharath will sit down and chalk out the release date as there are tentpoles lined up. Most probably the film will come out sometime later this year,” said a source close to the development.

The source added, “The film will see Yuva Chandraa (Pottel fame) and Sri Gouri Priya (Mail and Mad fame) in the leading roles, while Venu, last seen in Disney+Hotstar series Athidi, plays a key supporting role. Although he is constantly engaged with his business interests, Venu hopped on board after taking a strong liking to the story and his characterization. He will be presented in a hitherto new look. Raja Vaaru Rani Gaaru composer Jay Krish has been roped in as the composer and the makers are confident that his album will help penetrate the film into the masses.”
