Tamil star Suriya’s latest outing, ‘Vishwanath & Sons’, directed by talented filmmaker Venky Atluri, has opened to an overwhelming response from audiences across the country. Mamitha Baiju plays the female lead, while Radhika Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon appear in pivotal roles.

Presented by Srikara Studios and produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under the banners of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, the film features music by G. V. Prakash Kumar.

Released worldwide on August 14, 2026, ‘Vishwanath & Sons’ has emerged as a heartwarming family entertainer, winning appreciation for its natural humour, sensitive emotions, strong writing and impressive performances. The film is receiving a tremendous response from audiences and is registering strong collections at the box office.

Celebrating the film’s success, the team organised a grand success press meet at ITC Kohenur, Hyderabad, where the cast and crew expressed their happiness and thanked audiences for their overwhelming support. Renowned filmmaker and ‘Maatala Mantrikudu’ Trivikram Srinivas attended the event as the chief guest.

Trivikram Srinivas : Speaking at the success meet, Trivikram Srinivas said, “Greetings to everyone. From the time I heard this story, the film has been very close to my heart. I congratulate the entire team for making and successfully presenting a family film at a time like this.

“I want to make a film with Suriya sir. I haven’t yet narrated a story that he has liked (laughs). I believe we will work together very soon. My wife is a huge fan of Suriya sir. She doesn’t just request me to make a film with him, she demands it! She normally doesn’t visit film sets, but because of her admiration for Suriya sir, she visited this film’s set and took a picture with him.

“There are very few heroes whom women admire so deeply. Once they like someone, they never let go. Suriya sir is one such hero. In India, there are only two heroes whose age seems to go backwards — Suriya sir and Mahesh Babu sir.

“Sanjay Ramaswamy from Ghajini is a character that became very close not only to Tamil audiences but also to Telugu audiences. Some characters travel with us for decades, and that is one such character. When the Hindi version of Ghajini was made, Aamir Khan sir himself admitted that he could not match Suriya sir. Allu Aravind garu told me this while we were making Jalsa.

“Venky deserves a huge round of applause for the effort he put into bringing that look back, both in writing and execution. He has written the film beautifully. When I watched the edited version, I felt that some scenes would remain iconic in the future.

“There are four pillars to this film. One is Suriya sir, another is Radhika garu, the third is Raveena Tandon garu and the fourth is Mamitha Baiju garu. I have seen KGF and I also know Raveena garu personally. She appears very strong and dynamic in real life, but she has played a surprisingly different role here. She performed it with great naturalness. It may look easy to the audience, but I know how difficult such a role is to perform.

“Mamitha has brought tremendous energy to her character. Suriya sir’s character is extremely difficult. You cannot overplay it even slightly. Underplaying a character is much harder, and Suriya sir performed it brilliantly.

“I am happy that our production house is associated with a Suriya film. But I will be even happier when my name appears as the director of a Suriya film.

“In the span of one year, Suriya sir has done two completely different films like Karuppu and Vishwanath & Sons. It feels like a new journey has begun for him. He is travelling with us and giving us countless memories.

“Humility is one of the biggest things we should learn from Suriya sir. I have immense respect for his father, Sivakumar sir. We consider Suriya sir and Karthi sir as Telugu heroes too.

“Today, there are no boundaries between Tamil cinema, Telugu cinema and Hindi cinema. All languages have come together as Indian cinema. This is the time for Indian cinema to showcase its strength on the global stage, and all of us are working in that direction.

“My best wishes to Venky, Vamsi and the entire team. The real heroes of this film are the audiences. On behalf of all of us, I thank everyone who is showering love on ‘Vishwanath & Sons’.”

Venky Atluri : Director Venky Atluri said, “First and foremost, my heartfelt thanks to the audiences. When I wrote this story, the trend was completely different. Action, dark humour, horror and devotional films were dominating the industry. At such a time, if you say you want to make a family film, people may discourage you. But Vamsi garu never did that.

“Trivikram garu also encouraged me tremendously. This would not have been possible without his support. The moment Trivikram garu took this film as his own, everything started falling into place.

“Distributors telling us that the collections on the second day were double compared to the first day made me extremely happy. I have heard of collections increasing by 30 or 40 percent, but this is the first time in my career that I have seen collections double.

“Everyone is saying that I wrote the film well, but Suriya sir carried this film on his shoulders. The entire credit for these phenomenal collections goes to him.

“My heartfelt thanks to every single person who has been part of this film.”

The film’s distributors also attended the event and expressed their happiness over the phenomenal box-office performance of ‘Vishwanath & Sons’. Actors Sunil Reddy, Viva Harsha, fight master Venkat and other members of the team were also present and shared their joy over the film’s success.

"అందరికీ నమస్కారం. ఈ కథ విన్నప్పటి నుంచే, ఈ సినిమా నా హృదయానికి చాలా దగ్గరైంది. ఇలాంటి సమయంలో ఒక కుటుంబ కథా చిత్రం చేసి, దానిని విజయవంతం చేసినందుకు చిత్ర బృందం మొత్తానికి అభినందనలు. నేను సూర్య గారితో ఒక సినిమా చేయాలి. ఆయనకు నచ్చే కథ ఇంకా చెప్పలేకపోయాను(నవ్వుతూ). త్వరలోనే మేమిద్దరం కలిసి పని చేస్తామని నమ్ముతున్నాను. నా సతీమణి సూర్య గారికి పెద్ద ఫ్యాన్. సూర్య గారితో సినిమా చేయమని రిక్వెస్ట్ కాదు, డిమాండ్ చేస్తున్నారు. సాధారణంగా సినిమా షూటింగ్ లకు పెద్దగా వెళ్ళరు. అలాంటిది సూర్య గారి మీద అభిమానంతో ఈ సినిమా సెట్ కి వెళ్ళి, సూర్య గారితో ఫోటో దిగారు. ఆడవాళ్లు అంత గమ్మున ఇష్టపడరు. కానీ, ఇష్టపడితే మాత్రం జీవితాంతం వదిలిపెట్టరు. అలాంటి హీరోలు అతికొద్ది మంది ఉంటారు. అందులో సూర్య గారు ఒకరు. ఇండియాలో ఇద్దరే హీరోలకు వయసు వెనక్కి వెళ్తుంది. ఒకళ్ళు సూర్య గారు, ఇంకొకళ్ళు మహేష్ బాబు గారు. గజినీలో సూర్య గారు పోషించిన సంజయ్ రామస్వామి పాత్ర.. తమిళ ప్రేక్షకులకు మాత్రమే కాదు, తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకులకు కూడా చాలా దగ్గరైన పాత్ర. కొన్ని పాత్రలు మనతో పాటు దశాబ్దాల పాటు ప్రయాణిస్తాయి. అలాంటి పాత్ర అది. హిందీ గజినీ చేసిన సమయంలో 'నేను సూర్యను మ్యాచ్ చేయలేకపోయాను' అని స్వయంగా అమీర్ ఖాన్ గారు ఒప్పుకున్నారు. జల్సా సినిమా చేసేటప్పుడు ఈ విషయం నాకు అల్లు అరవింద్ గారు చెప్పారు. ఆ లుక్ ని మళ్ళీ తీసుకురావడం కోసం వెంకీ పడిన కష్టానికి, అది రాయడంలో గానీ, తీయడంలో గానీ హ్యాట్సాఫ్. వెంకీ చాలా బాగా రాశారు. ఎడిట్ లో చూసిన సమయంలోనే నాకు అనిపించింది.. ఈ సినిమాలోని కొన్ని సన్నివేశాలు భవిష్యత్తులో ఐకానిక్ సీన్స్ గా మిగిలిపోతాయి. ఈ సినిమాలో నాలుగు పిల్లర్స్ ఉన్నాయి. ఒక పిల్లర్ సూర్య గారైతే, ఇంకో పిల్లర్ రాధిక గారు, మూడో పిల్లర్ రవీనా టాండన్ గారు, ఇంకో పిల్లర్ మమితా బైజు గారు. నేను కేజీఎఫ్ చూశాను, అలాగే బయట కూడా నాకు రవీనా గారు తెలుసు. బయట స్ట్రాంగ్ గా, డైనమిక్ లేడీలా కనిపిస్తారు. కానీ, ఇందులో ఆశ్చర్యకర పాత్ర పోషించారు. చాలా సహజంగా నటించారు. చూసే వారికి అది తేలికగా అనిపించవచ్చు కానీ, ఆ పాత్ర పోషించడం ఎంత కష్టమో నాకు తెలుసు. మమితా పాత్రకు తగ్గట్టుగా ఎంతో ఎనర్జిటిక్ గా చేశారు. ఇక సూర్య గారిది చాలా డిఫికల్ట్ క్యారెక్టర్. కొంచెం కూడా ఎక్కువ చేయకూడదు. అలా అండర్ పెర్ఫార్మ్ చేయడం చాలా కష్టం. అలాంటి పాత్రలో సూర్య గారు అద్భుతంగా నటించారు. సూర్య గారి సినిమా నిర్మాణంలో మా ప్రొడక్షన్ పేరు కూడా ఉన్నందుకు సంతోషంగా ఉంది. కానీ, సూర్య గారి సినిమాకి దర్శకుడిగా నా పేరు పడినప్పుడు ఇంకా ఎక్కువ సంతోషిస్తాను. ఒక్క ఏడాది వ్యవధిలో కరుప్పు, విశ్వనాథ్ అండ్ సన్స్ లాంటి రెండు పూర్తి విభిన్న సినిమాలు చేశారు. సూర్య గారు ప్రయాణం మళ్ళీ కొత్తగా మొదలుపెట్టినట్లు అనిపిస్తుంది. మనతో ప్రయాణిస్తున్నారు, మనకు ఎన్నో ఙ్ఞాపకాలు ఇస్తున్నారు. సూర్య గారి నుంచి నేర్చుకోవాల్సింది వినయం. సూర్య తండ్రి గారు (శివకుమార్) అంటే నాకెంతో గౌరవం. సూర్య గారు, కార్తీ గారిని తెలుగు హీరోలుగా భావిస్తాం. ఇప్పుడు తమిళ సినిమా, తెలుగు సినిమా, హిందీ సినిమా అనే హద్దులు లేవు. ఇప్పుడు అన్ని భాషలు కలిపి ఇండియన్ సినిమా అయింది. ప్రపంచ వేదికపై భారతీయ సినిమా సత్తా చాటాల్సిన సమయం ఇది. ఆ దిశగానే మేమందరం పని చేస్తున్నాం. వెంకీ, వంశీ సహా టీమ్ అందరికీ శుభాకాంక్షలు. ఈ సినిమాకి నిజమైన హీరోలు ప్రేక్షకులే. ఈ సినిమాని ఆదరిస్తున్న ప్రేక్షకులకు మా అందరి తరపున కృతజ్ఞతలు." అన్నారు.

కథానాయకుడు సూర్య మాట్లాడుతూ.. దర్శకుడు వెంకీ అట్లూరి మాట్లాడుతూ.. "ముందుగా ప్రేక్షకులకు మనస్ఫూర్తిగా కృతజ్ఞతలు. ఈ కథ రాసినప్పుడు ట్రెండ్ ఇది కాదు. యాక్షన్, డార్క్ హ్యూమర్, హారర్, డివోషనల్ లాంటి సినిమాల ట్రెండ్ నడుస్తుంది. ఇలాంటి సమయంలో ఫ్యామిలీ సినిమా చేస్తానంటే, ఎవరైనా నిరుత్సాహ పరుస్తారు. కానీ, వంశీ గారు అలా చేయలేదు. త్రివిక్రమ్ గారు కూడా నన్ను ఎంతగానో ప్రోత్సహించారు. ఆయన మద్దతు లేకుండా ఇది సాధ్యమయ్యేది కాదు. త్రివిక్రమ్ గారు ఎప్పుడైతే ఈ సినిమాను తనది అనుకున్నారో, ఆ తర్వాత అన్నీ వాటంతట అవే కుదిరాయి. మొదటి రోజుతో పోలిస్తే, రెండో రోజు రెట్టింపు వసూళ్ళు వస్తున్నాయని డిస్ట్రిబ్యూటర్లు చెప్పడం చాలా సంతోషాన్ని ఇచ్చింది. 30 శాతం, 40 శాతం వసూళ్లు పెరగడం నేను విన్నాను. కానీ, వసూళ్ళు రెట్టింపు అవ్వడం నా కెరీర్ లో మొదటిసారి చూస్తున్నాను. అందరూ నేను బాగా రాశానని అంటున్నారు. కానీ, సూర్య గారు ఈ సినిమాని భుజాల మీద మోశారు. ఈ వసూళ్ళ ఘనత అంతా ఆయనకే దక్కుతుంది. ఈ సినిమాలో భాగమైన ప్రతి ఒక్కరికీ పేరుపేరునా కృతజ్ఞతలు." అన్నారు.

ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి చిత్ర పంపిణీదారులు హాజరై, సినిమా సాధిస్తున్న భారీ వసూళ్లపై సంతోషం వ్యక్తం చేశారు. అలాగే నటులు సునీల్ రెడ్డి, వైవా హర్ష, ఫైట్ మాస్టర్ వెంకట్ తదితరులు పాల్గొని చిత్ర విజయం పట్ల తమ ఆనందాన్ని పంచుకున్నారు.
