VIRGINIA – May 25th, 2014 - The 40th Anniversary Celebrations of Greater Washington Telugu Cultural Sangam (GWTCS) rolled out on May 25th 2014 with a grand kick-off event at Herndon High School, Herndon, Virginia. The kick-off event was attended by over 600 people despite their long weekend plans and made this successful start to the celebrations.
The event started off with a welcome message by GWTCS Vice President, Kishore Dangeti and included over 90 performers. The entertainment program was highlighted by Dazzling Bharatanatyam Dance performance Presented by Sri Rama Nataka Niketan, Hyderabad and light music by Sandeep Kowtha. The program also included performances by several local dance schools and groups.
Ravi Gourineni, GWTCS President & coordinator for these celebrations thanked the audience and explained to the gathering that this Event was organized as a curtain raiser and a kick-off for the upcoming 40th anniversary celebrations to be held from July 25th to 27th, 2014 at The National Conference Center, Leesburg, VA. He later introduced several committees that are constituted to plan & execute these celebrations.
Del. David Ramadan and Del. Barbara Comstock attended the event as the guests of honor and congratulated the GWTCS family on this special occasion. The event was attended by several community leaders and past presidents of GWTCS.
GWTCS Past President & Convener for these celebrations, Dr. Venkata Rao Mulpuri appealed all to attend the event in July to witness and enjoy a spectacular cultural extravaganza showcasing 40 years of GWTCS cultural and community services. Past President & Advisory Committee Chairman, Sri Harnath Reddy Chadive said that the past leadership of GWTCS is very excited about this event and extended full support.
The Organizing Committee thanked all donors, supporters, members, and volunteers for making this event a grand success. All the attendees enjoyed the delicious dinner served by Mayuri Indian Cuisine.

Greater Washington Telugu Cultural Sangam (GWTCS), established in 1974, is a non-profit organization devoted to the awareness and promotion of Telugu Culture in the Greater Washington DC Area. GWTCS celebrates various Telugu Festivals annually and encourages participation by members and well-wishers at these functions. Fostering contacts and promoting cooperation among Telugu speaking people of the United States and coordinating their efforts with likeminded individuals and groups interested in preservation of Telugu heritage and its propagation.
