NATS historical event in U.S. White House became a grand success

NATS, one of the largest Indian Organizations along with GWTS organized a historical South Asian Youth Symposium at the White House in Washington DC and the event was a Thunder success! Hundreds of South Asian youth has gotten the once in a life time opportunity to be part of this Prestigious event. NATS was honored and humbled when asked by the White House to coordinate this event and with the support from the White House, NATS leadership, GWTCS leadership, NATS nationwide Chapter Coordinators and other volunteers, the conference was elegantly executed by the team.

The conference started with American National Anthem followed by the introduction by the White House Senior Associate Director of public Engagement office, Zaki Barzinji. The event then started with the remarks to the symposium from Rao Linga, South Asia youth Conference coordinator and followed by the panel discussions on Career and Public service, Civic Engagement and Leadership, Bullying K-12 Education and finally our beloved First Lady, Mrs. Obama’s ‘Let’s move’ initiative. There was a tremendous participation from the youth in these discussions and received educative information from renowned panelists like Zaid Hassan-Assistant Director White House Business Council, Bessie Chan, Senior Advisor White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, Rukku Singla, Deputy Associate Counsel, Steven Olikara, President and Co-Founder Millennial Action Project, Vinai Thummalapally, Executive Director, Select USA, Ajita Menon, Special Assistant to the President for Higher Education, White House Domestic Policy Council, Mario Cardona, Senior Policy Advisor for Education, White House Domestic Policy Council, David Lu, Advisor, White House Initiative on Asian Americans. Also, few cultural programs were performed by many artists and their performances received standing ovation in the white house. NATS President Mohan Krishna Mannava gave remarks to this symposium on NATS initiatives and activities for the youth, his remarks were overwhelmingly received by the youth. NATS Mid East Zonal Vice President Lakshmi Linga thanked everyone. To commemorate the conference, NATS also published a souvenir and released at the White house. The day ended with picture session at the Navy steps in White House. New Jersey Governor Mr.Chris Christie joined the event and congratulated NATS team for this historical event at white house and appreciated NATS efforts.

NATS is the only Indian Organization to conduct 2 Youth Symposium events back to back in 2 years at the White House. The participants took home a full educative experience and the White House thanked the NATS committee for their tremendous work. Rao Linga, Srinivas Maddali, Mohan Mannava, Radhika Guntur, Ramesh Nuthalapati, Padmini Nidumolu, Praveen Nidumolu, Jayashree Pedhibhotla, Kavitha Yanigandla, Pavan Bezwada, Ashok Anmalsetty, Sanjeev Naidu, Kamaraju Vadrevu, Angela Anand, Anadi Naik, Lakshmi Linga, Bapaiah Chowdary, Srinivas Manchikalpudi contributed to the success of this event.

అమెరికా వైట్ హౌస్ లో సౌత్ ఏషియన్ యూత్ సింపోజియం ఘనంగా జరిగింది. ఉత్తర అమెరికా తెలుగు సంఘం నాట్స్, గ్రేటర్ వాషింగ్టన్ తెలుగు కల్చరల్ సోసైటీ సంయుక్తంగా నిర్వహించిన ఈ సింపోజియంకు అద్భుతమైన స్పందన లభించింది. అమెరికా అధ్యక్ష భవనం వైట్ హౌస్ లో వచ్చిన ఈ అవకాశాన్ని నాట్స్, స్థానిక వాషింగ్టన్ తెలుగు సోసైటీ సద్వినియోగం చేసుకున్నాయి. అమెరికా ప్రభుత్వం ఇచ్చిన ఈ అరుదైన అవకాశాన్ని అందిపుచ్చుకుని సౌత్ ఏషియన్ యూత్ ను నాట్స్ ఒక వేదికపైకి తీసుకొచ్చింది. యువత ఆలోచనలను ప్రతిబింబించేలా.. వారి సృజన్మాతకతను వెలిబుచ్చేలా ఈ వేదికను వినియోగించుకుంది. అమెరికా జాతీయ గీత ఆలపనతో ప్రారంభమైన ఈ సింపోజియంలో వైట్ హౌస్ పబ్లిక్ ఎంగేజ్మెంట్ సీనియర్ అసోసియేట్ డైరక్టర్ జాకీ బర్ జింగి ప్రారంభోపన్యాసం చే శారు. సౌత్ ఏసియన్ యూత్ సింపోజియం కో ఆర్డినేటర్ రావు లింగా ఈ సింపోజియంలో కార్యక్రమాలను ఎంతో చక్కగా సమన్వయం చేశారు. ముఖ్యంగా ప్రజాసేవ, కెరీర్ & లీడర్ షిప్ డెవలప్ మెంట్, సమాజంలోని వేధింపులు, బులియింగ్ కే12 అనే అంశాలతో పాటు మిషెల్ ఒబామా ప్రారంభించిన లెట్స్ మూవ్ ఉద్యమంపై కూడా చర్చ జరిగింది. సింపోజియంలో జరిగిన చర్చావేదికలకు చక్కటి స్పందన లభించింది. యువతకు ఎంతో విలువైన విద్యా సమాచారాన్ని ఇక్కడ వచ్చిన నిపుణులు అందించారు. వైట్ హౌస్ బిజినెస్ కౌన్సిల్ అసిస్టెంట్ డైరక్టర్ జాయెద్ హసన్, వైట్ హౌస్ సీనియర్ అడ్వైజర్ బెస్పీ చాన్, డిప్యూటీ అసోషియేట్ కౌన్సిల్ రుక్కు సింగ్లా , మిలియనిల్ యాక్షన్ ప్రాజెక్ట్ ప్రెసిడెంట్ అండ్ కో పౌండర్ స్టివెన్ ఒలికరా, వినయ్ తుమ్మలపల్లి సెలక్ట్ యూఎస్ఏ ఎగ్జిక్యూటివ్ డైరక్టర్ , ప్రెసిడెంట్ ఫర్ హైయ్యర్ ఎడ్యుకేషన్ స్పెషల్ అసిస్టెంట్, అజితా మీనన్, వైట్ హౌస్ డోమస్టిక్ పాలసీ కౌన్సిల్, ఎడ్యుకేషన్ పాలసీ సీనియర్ అడ్వైజర్ మారియో కార్డోనా , వైట్ హౌస్ ఇనిషియేటివ్స్ ఆన్ ఏసియన్ అమెరికన్స్ అడ్వైజర్ డేవిడ్ లూ, నాట్స్ ప్రెసిడెంట్ మోహన కృష్ణ మన్నవ తదితరులు యువతకు దిశానిర్ధేశం చేసి.. తమ విలువైన సలహాలు, సూచనలు అందించారు. నాట్స్ ఈ సందర్భంగా ఓ సావనీర్ ను కూడా ఆవిష్కరించింది. వైట్ హౌస్ నావీ స్టెప్స్ వద్ద ఫోటో సెషన్ కూడా జరిగింది. సింపోజియంను ఘనంగా నిర్వహించినందుకు వైట్ హౌస్ ఆవరణలో న్యూజెర్సీ గవర్నర్ క్రిస్ క్రిస్టి నాట్స్ కు అభినందనలు తెలిపారు.
