North America Telugu Society (NATS) and Greater Washington Telugu Society (GWTCS) in collaboration with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and Virginia Attorney General’s office “Immigration Awareness” and “Know your Rights” event was a tremendous success!!

Hundreds of international students attended the event and shared their concerns. They have received firsthand information from the officer Ms. Gloria Williams-Brevard and were communicated that they do not need to worry as long as the students maintain the legal documents properly and keep them up to date. They were also given various web resources to get the information in depth.

The participants were also educated on E-Verify by the officer Mr. Harry W Nash. The information was given in depth on how a student can get self E-verification and the list of documents needed by the employer. The officer also gave his contact information incase if the students need any further clarification.

Attorney General’s Officer Ms. Leith, Michele I provided information on the individual rights and how a consumer will need to be protected. The participants also received information on Identity theft. The participants also received contact information on where and how to find resources for help.

NATS DC chapter coordinator Radhika Guntur, GWTCS President Rao N Linga, NATS Youth Coordinators Avinash Talasila, Dinesh Chand, Sanjeev Naidu, pulled an extraordinary and productive event with all the dedicated team work!! NATS Board Member Lakshmi Linga thanked the USCIS and Attorney General’s officers for partnering with our organizations and also provided assurance to all the participants with all the support they needed. The organizers also appreciated the VIU and the student body for hosting the event.

నాట్స్ ఆధ్వర్యంలో ఇమిగ్రేషన్ సదస్సుకు మంచి స్పందన

వాషింగ్టన్ డి.సి. మార్చ్ 12: అమెరికాలో తెలుగు వారికి అండగా నిలిచే ఉత్తర అమెరికా తెలుగు సంఘం నాట్స్ వాషింగ్టన్ డీసీలో ఇమ్మిగ్రేషన్ ఎవేర్నెస్ పేరిట అవగాహన కార్యక్రమాన్నినిర్వహించింది.. గ్రేటర్ వాషింగ్టన్ తెలుగు సోసైటీ, యునైటెడ్ స్టేట్స్ సిటిజన్ షిప్, అండ్ ఇమ్మిగ్రేషన్ సర్వీసెస్, వర్జీనియా అటార్నీ జనరల్ కార్యాలయంతో కలిసి నాట్స్ ఈ ఎవేర్నెస్ కార్యక్రమాన్ని ఏర్పాటు చేసింది. అమెరికా పౌరసత్వం.. ఇమ్మిగ్రేషన్ అంశాలపై జరిగిన ఈ అవగాహన కార్యక్రమానికి వందలాది అంతర్జాతీయ విద్యార్ధులు హాజరయ్యారు. న్యాయపరంగా మీ దగ్గర అన్ని ధ్రువపత్రాలు ఉంటే అమెరికాలో ఎలాంటి కంగారు పడాల్సిన అవసరం లేదని ఇందులో పాల్గొన్న అధికారులు గ్లోరియా విలియమ్స్, బ్రెవడాండ్ లు స్పష్టం చేశారు.

విద్యార్ధుల దగ్గర ఉండాల్సిన ప్రాథమిక సమాచారంపై వారికి అవగాహన కల్పించారు. ఈ-వెరిఫికేషన్ కు సంబంధించిన ప్రాథమిక అవగాహనతో పాటు విద్యార్ధుల ప్రశ్నలకు అధికారి హ్యారీనాష్ సమాధానాలిచ్చారు. యజమాని, ఉద్యోగుల దగ్గర ఉండాల్సిన సమాచారాన్ని అందించారు. విద్యార్దులు మరింత వివరణకు తమను సంప్రదించవచ్చని కూడా తెలిపారు.

వ్యక్తిగత హక్కుల పరిరక్షణకు సంబంధించిన సమాచారాన్ని కూడా అటార్నీ జనరల్ అధికారణి మిస్ లిత్ మిచేల్ అందిస్తామని తెలిపారు. ఎవరైనా తమ గుర్తింపుకు సంబంధించిన సమాచారాన్ని దొంగిలిస్తే దానిని తిరిగి ఎలా పొందాలనే దానిపై కూడా తాము సాయం అందిస్తామన్నారు.

నాట్స్ డీసీ చాప్టర్ కో ఆర్డినేటర్ రాధిక గుంటూరు, గ్రేటర్ వాషింగ్టన్ తెలుగు సొసైటీ ప్రెసిడెంట్ రావు ఎన్ లింగా, నాట్స్ యూత్ కోఆర్డినేటర్ అవినాష్ తలశిల, దినేష్ చంద్, సంజీవ్ నాయుడు తదితరులు ఈ అవగాహన సదస్సును విజయవంతం చేయడంలో కీలక పాత్ర పోషించారు. USCIS అటార్నీ జనరల్ అధికారులతో పాటు ఈ సదస్సు నిర్వహణలో తమ వంతు సాయం అందించిన వారందరికీ నాట్స్ బోర్డ్ సభ్యులు లక్ష్మి లింగా ధన్యవాదాలు తెలిపారు. వీఐయూ తో పాటు విద్యార్ధి విభాగాలు ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో పాలుపంచుకున్న విద్యార్ధులకు నాట్స్ ప్రత్యేక ధన్యవాదాలు తెలిపింది.
