TAGDV- Telugu Association of Greater Delaware Valley in Philadelphia area, USA celebrated its 42nd Annual Day on Saturday, June 20th. More than 500 people attended. Program started with Ganesha Prayer by Sindhu Budhavarapu & Siva Nutanapati. Cultural competitions followed in Singing & Dances in Classical, Folk and Movie for all age categories. There were more than 60 entries, a very high number. We also had skits by young students, Chinmaya Mission and dances by our youth group.
Speech by Chief Guest Paruchuri Gopalakrishna garu on Telugu language was very inspirational. SreeKrishna Rayabaram Ekapatrabhinyam by A. Koteswarrao garu was great. We also had comedy skit by Rajita and Allrounder Kiran. Musical Night by Singers Kousalya, Anuj and Kiran enthralled the crowd. Folk songs by folk singer Janaradhan were good too.
TAGDV chinnarulu and teenagers raised $1000 (thousand dollars) by selling food contributed by few parents. That money was donated to Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia and all volunteers got certificates by the children's hospital. Montgomery county officials who were present praised the efforts of TAGDV and young volunteers.
Grand Sponsors of the event - NATA (North American Telugu Association) board was present and President Elect Rajewarreddy garu and Executive Vice President Raghava Reddy garu spoke about work NATA is doing and about 2018 Convention in Philadelphia. Sponsors TANA (Telugu Association of North America) Jt secretary Ravi Potluri garu, Regional Represenatives Prakash Battineni and Laxmi Devineni garu spoke about TANA convention in Detroit which is from July 4th. TATA (Telangana American Telugu Association) core committee members Mahendar Musuku, Santosh Paturu spoke about TATA's objectives. CIO (Council Of Indian Organizations) President Manish Ingle and local county officials Jason Salus and Todd Eisenburg were also present to show their support to TAGDV and local Telugu Community.
TAGDV President Mallik Budhavarapu, Vice president Harinath Bungatavula, Secretary Sambaiah Kotapati, Treasurer Kiran Kothapalli, Joint treasurer Suresh Venkannagari and Executive Committee members Anu Dontineni, Madhu Gonipati, Sreedhar Gudala, Subash Karra, Nagaraju Nalajula, Vijayasri Parchuri, Rammohan Talluri, Gopikrishna Vagvala worked very hard to make the program a grand success. Mallik Budhavarapu also thanked all the judges, teachers, parents and participants for their contribution to cultural competitions.
