Telugu Association of Reading & Around (TARA) organized the inaugural Badminton Open Tournament on June 22nd 2014 @ Academy Sports, Reading. The response was huge with over 80 contestants from different areas & age groups, in Mens-Double, Womens-Double, Mixed-Double participated in this tournament. This tournament has witnessed exceptional talent from all the participants. The players amused the spectators with spectacular smashes and displayed deft and finesse in drop shots. Kids aged between 14-16yrs displayed exceptional skills and gave tough competition to few experience players in the quarter finals and bagged the runners place in Womens Doubles.
The championship winners & runners for each category were announced and given certificate of achievement & participation. The certificates were presented by some of TARA Core Committee members (Mr.Ravikanth Vakada, Mr.Naveen Gurram, Mr.Rambabu Boorugu & Mr.Gopikishan Nerellakunta) present. All the Winners and Runners in each category would be invited to the TARA Summer Event, to be in held on 12th July (at Southcote Primary School, Silchester Rd, Reading RG30 3EJ) where the trophies are presented amid hundreds of families.

In the later communication, TARA President, Mrs. Lakshmi Maturu, and Secretary Mr.Ravikanth Vakada and other committee members appreciated & thanked all the executive sports committee members and volunteers for supporting and making the event run smoothly. They also requested the same level of spirit and support for organising TARA’s next big event, ‘Summer Event’..
