Telugu Association of Scotland (TAS) celebrated Diwali on 05th of November 2016 in Glasgow, United Kingdom with colours, lights, music and dance. The dazzling celebrations began with lighting the lamp (జ్యోతి ప్ర జ్వలన) followed by recital of ‘Maa Telugu Talliki… (మా తెలుగు తల్లి కి ... మల్లి పూదండ) song by Manabadi students.

TAS Chairman, Shyam Jayanty has welcomed all at the venue with Diwali wishes and marked the significance of festivity, highlighted the significance of TAS in promoting Telugu language, culture and foster community spirit. Chairman has described the hard work and best efforts put up by all kids participating in the event programme which was a blend of classical (Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam) dances and movie based skits.

The event continued with presentation of medals and certificates to TAS Sports Day 2016 winners looked after by Cultural Secretary Shiva Chimpiri and Women’s Secretary Teja Kantamaneni. An amazing musical recitals and dancing acts by kids (aged from 4 years to 16 years) along with adults and Bharatanatyam act by Dr. Radha Krishnan and students. A spellbound performance about ‘Godha Kalyanam’ a presentation by Sri. K V Satyanarayana students.

The guests of honor Ms. Carol Manoghan, Member of Parliament (Glasgow North West ) and Mrs. Luisa Lakra, Vice-Consul from the Consulate General of India office Edinburgh were Welcomed by TAS President Ranjit Nagubandi. He has also given the highlights of TAS community activities like Picnic, Cycling, Sports , Gardening , recent changes in TAS website along with financial status and opportunities for volunteers at other locations in the Scotland. A felicitation to Sri K V Satyanarayana for his devotion to Kuchipudi and performances across the world.

Treasurer Benjamin Telagalapudi, IT secretary Venkatesh Gaddam & Youth Secretary Uday Kuchadi looked after logistics and food arrangements for everyone.

The curtain close of event has been convened by TAS General Secretary, Mythili Kemburi with a vote of thanks to all the individuals for their determined help and support before the event and at the event.
