Devi Sri Prasad – A Complete Entertainer

devi sri prasad

First of all, I am not related to any of the promoters of the tour. This is my humble and honest opinion after watching the first program of DSP’s tour in Milpitas, CA. Prior to the show, I was having my own doubts about the show as this is the first time I ever been to DSP in concert. Also I never had a feedback from anyone who attended one such. So, we went to the show with our own doubts and speculation. Added to that the show started almost one hour late than the announced time of 7:30 PM.

But, once the show started it is a different ball game altogether. Devi Sri Prasad just scooped it away single handedly. In any music concert the main composer is hardly seen, even if you see them, they hardly speak. Even if they speak it is just a few sentences here and there. Also there will be a dancer, anchor and a comedian placed here and there. But DSP is just one combo package of all these features and he excelled in each one of them.

He is the main anchor of the program – he has excellent sense of humor with timely placed jhalaks, mannerisms and various dialects. His choice of dialogues has a very pure telugu touch and is far from vulgarity. Of course there is a pinch of youth in his concept. The way he interacted with audience is really amazing.

He is an “excellent” I mean “really excellent” dancer. I am sure this is a very welcoming surprise to most of the audience. I never expected DSP to be such a prolific dancer. He can also pursue dancing as a hobby. He has such a supple body and his witty mannerisms just made it more entertaining.

No need to mention his singing capabilities as he already sang many of his haunting tunes himself. But there should be a special mention of the intuitive, instinctive, foot tapping music bits he performed just with his mouth. There was no music accompanied to them but they still make the audience spell bound. This just shows the depth of talent hidden in this young genius.

The program kicked off with “something something” from NVNV followed by plethora of hits and melodies from movies like Bommarillu, Aarya, Parugu, varsham, Shankardada, Jalsa and Ready. Other singers like Mallikarjun, Gopika Purnima, Kalpana and Sagar are very good too. The dance group led by Satya and team did very good job. The program lasted almost 4 hours and everyone in the hall just had a blast.

Over all DSP proved he is a total entertainer. He sang, he shouted, he screamed, he mumbled and he danced to his own tunes. He is a prodigy with lot of energy and multiple talents in him. We can expect a lot of good music in future from this little maestro.
