Poem
on Maha Sivarathri by Srinivas Kanchibhotla
The celestial dance - Lord Siva, famous for his cosmic dancing gestures, symbolizes the extremes of human emotions, be it fearful wrath, as in the case of Daksha Yagnam, or great benevolence, in regard to Ravana's humilation episode. Why, as a Supreme Being, can he not be in complete control of his senses, is just anybody's guess, but this interesting dilemma certainly makes for good human drama.
