Kamal Hassan and Venkatesh answered to a few questions of journalists after the logo launch of Eenadu was over. Here are the excerpts -

A Wednesday was done by character actors and people didn’t have expectations on that film. Eenadu has two of the biggest stars in South India and there are lots of expectations. Don’t you think the images of stars will dominate the story?
Kamal Hassan: We are actors by virtue. Became stars because of luck. Since we became stars, people shouldn’t drown us in stardom and prevent us from doing films where characters are put above the star image. In Eenadu movie, you will see two real life characters played by us.

Why did you choose Venky for the role of cop?
Kamal Hassan: Venkatesh is a friend. And he is a good performer.

What is your experience after Eenadu?
Venkatesh: It is a big challenge to do a remake of a story based Hindi film which is a big hit. Kamal called me and told me that we have done enough commercial cinema. It is the time to move on do different films. Eenadu is a clever and honest movie.

How did Sruthi Hassan do in music department?
Kamal Hassan: The music in Eenadu enhances the mood and emotion of the movie. Sruthi is not signed for this movie because she is my daughter. I signed her because she is talented.

You did 10 roles in Dasavatharam. You could have done Venky’s role in this film too?
Kamal Hassan: I have done dual roles in 22 films. I want to put an end to it and that’s why I did Dasavatharam. Dasavatharam is a satire on my dual roles.

Chakri Toleti comes from a different backdrop. How did he perform?
Kamal Hassan: He did well. Even the biggest directors did a few mistakes in their debut films. Chakri is still learning.

Why did you stop Marmayogi?
Kamal Hassan: It was a painful decision to let Marmayogi go off. I worked on that script for one year. Things didn’t work out from the producers’ side. I opted out.
