Comedy actor Nagesh is no more
Veteran comedy actor Nagesh died today due to heart ailment in Chennai. His real name is Gundu Rao. He acted in over 1000 films made in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. He is basically Kannadiga who migrated to Chennai to act in films. He acted in several black and white and color films. A few of his latest Telugu films include Toliprema (as grandfather of the hero). He is the favorite actor of Kamal Hassan and donned many roles in Kamal Hassan movies. May his soul rest in peace.
Adhinetha first schedule complete
The first schedule of Jagapati Babu’s Adhineta was completed Bhadrachalam. Srddha Das introduction song was canned with Godavari backdrop. A song was shot in Bhadrachalam temple. Murali Sharma (Athidi fame) plays an important role. The second schedule will start from 2 February. Samudra directs this film. KK Radha Mohan is the producer.

Dil Raju’s film with Ram
Dil Raju said in a press meet today that he would be producing a film with Ram as hero. This film will be directed by Srivas who directed blockbuster Lakshyam. This film is said to be an action film. It is likely to be launched once Ram’s current project with Kajal Agarwal is completed.
Siddham on 12 February
The team of Homam is back. Jagapati Babu, JD Chakri and Kiran Kumar Koneru are teaming up together for an intense film titled ‘Siddham’ which is based on the live story of encounter specialist Daya Nayak. Sindhu Menon plays female lead. Amar Mohale is doing music for this film. This film is all set to release on 12 February.
Manjeera on 31 January
Manjeera film that introduces Gowtam as hero will be releasing on 31st January. Sridevi is doing the female lead. Sai Bhanu makes his debut as director with this film. Billa Malaysia shoot completed
Malaysian shooting part of Prabhas latest film Billa is going to be completed tomorrow. The unit will be coming back to Hyderabad on 31st January after finishing a 78 days of non-stop schedule in various parts of Malaysia. Anushka and Namitha play female leads. Meher Ramesh shot an item song between Prabhas and Hansika Motwani in the last week in Malaysia. The movie will shoot in Vizag and Hyderabad for a month. Producer Krishnam Raju is planning for summer release.
Actress Seema arrested for prostitution
Telugu film actress Seema (Jaya Lakshmi) (click here for photo gallery) and her mother Aadi Lakshmi were arrested by the taskforce police in Tarnaka on 28 January. 26 year old Seema was settled in Mumbai when SV Krishna Reddy introduced her as heroine in Sakutumba Saparivara Samethamga film. She acted in films like Kumkuma, Ayudham, Adhipati and Madhumasam in the past. Apart from doing prostitution, she is also employing sex workers at a cost of Rs. 30,000/- each per week from Mumbai to run a prostitution house.
Brahmanandam as Gachibowli Diwakar
After doing Rao Garu in Dhee, Mcdoweel Murthy in Ready and music director Jayasurya in King, Brahmanandam is all set to entertain the movie lovers with his cricketer character in Konchem Istam Konchem Kastam film. The character is called Gachibowli Diwakar. His role is integrated in the story line. KIKK is all set to release on 5 February.
Gracy Singh in a Telugu film
After a long gap Gracy Singh (Lagaan fame) is making her entry into Telugu films again. SK Basheed who produced a film in the past has turned into direction and directing a film titled Ramdev’. This film features Abbas, Akash, Sai Kiran, Gracy Singh and Archana in the main leads. Sai Kiran does a role of a sadist. Abbas and Gracy Singh play the wife and husband pair. Abbad is doing the role of Ram and Akash is doing the role of Dev. This film will go to Australia to shoot four songs. Archana is doing a glamorous role.

Mr. Gireesam taken out on 3rd day
A film titled Mr. Gireesam was released on 13 of this month. The posters and publicity material of the film sports Ramya Krishna and Krishna Bhagawan in big size. However their footage in the film is limited. The collections of this film were so pathetic that it was taken out of the main theater Odeon Deluxe on third day (Sunday) and replaced it with Kotha Bangaru Lokam.

Editor of Santosham film magazine is appointed as the official representative of Praja Rajyam Party for West Godavari district. He recently joined the Praja Rajyam Party. Santosham Suresh also registered a title ‘Praja Rajyam’ at Film Chamber of Commerce and is planning to make a movie with that title and release it before the elections. Padma Bhushan to Krishna
Superstar Krishna finally got his due recognition today. The central government announced Padma Bhushan award to Krishna for his contribution towards film industry. In spite of being finest actor and commercial super star of Telugu cinema, Krishna was never awarded Nandi in his career. Krishna too never cared for awards in his career. IT raid on Arundhati office
Income Tax officials raided the officer of Shyam Prasad Reddy on 22 January. Shyam Prasad Reddy’s latest film Arundhati started off with terrific box office report. Shyam Prasad Reddy did not sell the distribution rights to anybody in India. All the money Arundhati collected in India will reach the coffers of Shyam. When contacted about the IT raid, Shyam confirmed it by saying he will have to sit with them today to explain about first week collections.
Rahul Nambiar to direct Shyam’s next film
Rahul Nambiar – the visual effects supervisor and creative director of Arundhati – will be directing the next venture of Shyam Prasad Reddy. Slumdog Millionaire nominated for Oscars
Slumdog Millionaire got nominated in 10 categories for Oscar Awards 2009. These categories are best motion picture, best director, best achievement in cinematography, achievement in film editing, achievement in music written for motion pictures (original score – AR Rehman), Best achievement in music written for motion pictures (original songs – Jai Ho & O Saya), Achievement in Sound Editing, Achievement in Sound Mixing and Adapted screenplay. AR Rehman’s work got nominated thrice (one for music and two for songs).
Arundhati prints number reaches 250
Arundhati film was released with 100 prints. With tremendous mouth talk spreading life a wild fire, the producer had immense pressure to increase the prints all over. He added prints to various centers in a staggered manner. The total number of prints will reach to 250 by tomorrow. In Prasads, Arundhati was released with three shows. From tomorrow, the shows number will be increased seven (including one show in IMAX screen). In a center like Ongole, Arundhati is still running with 6 shows a day. Arundhati is going to release with 12 prints in USA on 23 January.
Satyameva Jayathe on 6 February
Raja Sekhar’s latest film Satyameva Jayathe will be released on 6 of February 2009. This film sports Sanjana and Neetu Chandra in female leads. Sekhar Kammula’s latest film introducing RaNa (son of D Suresh Babu) as hero was launched today morning at 10 am in Rama Naidu studios. AVM Productions is going to produce the film. Arundhati Tamil on 20 February
Arundhati is all set to create records in Telugu film industry. And after a huge gap, prestigious Tamil production houses are showing tremendous interest in dubbing Arundhati film in Tamil. The offer for dubbing rights of Tamil is running into several crores. It is not known whether Shyam Prasad Reddy sells the rights or dub it in Tamil on his own. More DI work for Arundhati
It is normal for any producer to love their films. But Shyam Prasad Reddy is something else. He is obsessed with his film. Being a perfectionist, he wanted some more finesse in the color grading of Arundhati. He is getting more DI (Digital Ingredient) work for the second bunch of 100 prints. The DI work is currently going on with Prime Focus now. The second bunch of prints will have more visual splendor.
Anushka watches Arundhati twice
Anushka is busy shooting for her latest film Billa in Malaysia when her Magnum Opus Arundhati was released. She took a couple of days off and flew down to Hyderabad yesterday. She watched the first show at Sudarshan 35mm on 19 January. She is watching it again for morning show in Gokul theater on 20 January. Arundhati is declared as one of the biggest all time hits of Telugu film industry by the trade pundits.
Court injunction order on A Wednesday Telugu remake
Kiran Kumar Koneru (Homam producer) has got the injunction from the court on the Telugu remake of Bollywood blockbuster ‘A Wednesday’ today. He announced that he bought the Telugu remake rights of A Wednesday in Telugu a few months back. Later on UTV clarified that they did not sell remake rights to anybody. Kiran Kumar Koneru has sufficient proofs of purchasing remake rights and submitted them to the court. We have to wait and see who will have the last laugh in this Telugu remake rights tussle.

Shyam – a cool producer
Shyam Prasad Reddy is hardly slept in the past four days due to the technical glitch which stalled the release of Arundhati for two days. After sending the prints to all destinations, Shyam has slept at 11 am asking his wife to wake him at 6 pm in the evening. This incident shows that Shyam Prasad Reddy is not tensed about the result of the movie at all. It also shows the level of confidence he has on the film. Meanwhile, Arundhati generated very good positive buzz in Hyderabad where it is released with morning shows. Arundhati is released with matinee shows in other major centers.

Maska collects a share of 2.25 crores in AP on day one
K Vijaya Bhaskar (General Manager of Suresh Movies distribuors) said, “We released Maska film throughout AP with around 225 prints on 14 January in 303 theaters. It is released with 300 prints all over the world. It collected a share of 2.25 crores in Andhra Pradesh alone. Aound 7 lakh tickets of Maska were sold on the releasing day".
Arundhati not released on 15
Arundhati film was supposed to release on 14 January on the eve of Sankranthi. It got postponed to 15 January. The prints are not dispatched to the theaters as of 11 am on 15 January. The movie lovers who went to the theaters to watch the morning had to return with disappointment. We have to wait and watch for the exact release time of Arundhati film.

Cinemax launch on 14 Jan
K Raghavendra Rao’s multiplex Cinemax (in collaboration with Cinemax theaters chain) will be open to the public on 14 January on the eve of Sankranthi festival. To start with, it will play three Sankranthi releases – Maska, Arundhati and Fitting Master. All the actors and crewmembers of these films are expected to grace Cinemax on the morning of 14 January. Cinemax is located in Banjara Hills opposite to LV Prasad Eye Institute. Cinemax will be the fourth multiplex in Hyderabad after Prasads, PVR and Big cinemas.

Ghajini collects 200 crores
Amir Khan’s latest film Ghajini is creating records now. It collected 200 crores (161 crores in India and 39 crores in overseas) so far. The success of Ghajini is being compared with that of Gadar and Hum Aap Ke Hain Kaun. The producer is yet to sell DVD and satellite rights. Small time comedian Anji Rammurthy died due to cardiac arrest on 7 January 2009. He started his career as a pickpocket and then became a politician. Neetu Chandra’s complaint on Raja Sekhar
Neetu Chandra is said to have emailed a complaint on Raja Sekhar and Jeevitha to city police commissioner of Hyderabad. She alleged that the Rajasekhar couple harassed her when she was shooting for Satyameva Jayathe last month. Mumbai Mirror wrote an article in the last week about Neetu Chandra bothered by Rajasekhar couple. The city police commissioner clarified that he has received a complaint through email. But it is not sure if Neetu Chandra sent that email or somebody did it using her name. He would be registering a complaint only if Neetu Chandra comes to a Hyderabad police station and lodges a complaint. Mean while, Jeevitha thrashed this as a malign campaign by the people in film industry who does not like Raja Sekhar.
Sun TV buys Police Police
As per the sources of idlebrain.com, the Tamil theatrical rights of Sriram’s latest film Police Police is purchased by Sun Network in Chennai. Sriram, Pruthvi Raj, Kamalinee Mukherjee and Sanjana play main leads. Chandu produces this film. Manmohan directs this film.

Cyber solutions private limited has produced a 3-D animation Telugu film titled Alibaba 40 Dongalu. Instead of releasing in theaters, the producer has released the DVD of the film. The production of Alibaba took 14 months to make with a budget of 24 lacks. This DVD movie was aimed at children and adult alike. EVV Satyanarayana launched the DVD at a function organized today.

Sivaji joins web site critics list
Criticizing web sites is the in-thing in film industry. Actor Sivaji took the opportunity at his latest film audio function today to criticize web sites by saying that nobody bothered to review his latest film Indumathi on internet. He also criticized a website (read it as idlebrain.com) for giving a 1.5 rating (review here) for his film Kuberulu. He mentioned that Kuberulu was a box office hit.Being a matured person, Brahmanandam immediately corrected Sivaji and asked the media not to take it in the wrong way. If Sivaji could protest a 1.5 rating for Kuberulu, there is no wonder if big heroes and big directors hate web sites for bad reviews.

Financiers stalled the release of Sasirekha Parinayam film due to the non-payment of money from the producer Sunkara Madhu Murali for his past films. The prints of Sasirekha Parinayam were stalled for all areas except for East Godavari, West Godavari and overseas. The film was released in East and West today. The USA prints reached USA and will be screened as per the schedules. There are chances that it may release in the evening of 1st Jan or the morning of 2nd Jan.

Court stay on Ghajini’s release
Justice PR Shiva Kumar (of Madras High Court) granted the stay on Ghajini’s worldwide release on 25 December. A Chandrasekharan (producer of original Tamil film Ghajini) filed a suit that the Hindi produced obtained the remade rights with fabricated documents. However, the court stay has come after the prints had been delivered to the distributors and the exhibitors.

Ticket rates increased

Actor Vishnu Manchu has taken membership in AP Fighters Association. Tammareddy Bharadwaja gave the membership to Vishnu on behalf of the union. Speaking on this eve Vishnu said that he has tremendous respect to the profession of fights and he personally like stunts a lot. Feminists fume at Neninthe
Feminists and female politicians raised their objection on the poster publicity of Puri Jagan’s latest film Neninthe. Women activist Sandhya, politicians Nannapaneni Raja Kumari and Ganga Bhavani strongly objected to scantly clad heroine being projected in poster designs. Their protest comes in the wake of eve-teasing and atrocities against women. The more they protest, the more it is going to help the publicity of 18 December release Neninthe.
Will ticket hike GO be issued?
YSR announced that he would be issuing a GO (Government Order) which will allow the exhibitors to hike the ticket price up to Rs. 50/- for upper stalls. However, the GO is not released so far. Neninthe – a big film- is all set to release on 18 December. And Neninthe is unlikely to receive this benefit. We have to wait and see if this GO will be released before Nagarjuna King’s release (24 December). A movie that is capable of collecting 10 crores in the first week will collected only 7 crores if the prices are not hiked.
Ashta Chemma Bhargavi murdered
Actress Bhargavi (Ashta Chemma fame) died at her residence (behind cancer hospital in Banjara Hills) today. Her dead body is found along with that of Bujji (supposed to be her husband/lover). There are injuries (eight knife marks) on the body of Bhargavi. But there is no sign of any injury on Bujji’s body. A poison bottle was found at the crime scene. A suicide notes was found. Cops are suspecting that Bujji has murdered Bhargavi before consuming poison. (detailed article here).

After the Bujjigadu film, Puri Jagan and Prabhas are going to join hands together for film to be produced by Aditya Ram.
