Ali is acting in a film titled somberi which is being directed by the lyricist turned director Jonnavithula. Singer Nagur Babu (Mano) is making his debut as music director with this film. Venkat Rao is producing this film on Raosan banner.

AR Rehman graced this occasion as the chief guest. The other guests include Koti, Mani Sharma, Devi Sri Prasad, Murali Mohan and Paruchuri Gopala Krishna.

AR Rehman launched the audio CD and gave the first unit to Murali Mohan. Mani sharma launched the audio cassette and gave the first unit to Devi Sri Prasad.

After launching the audio AR Rehman said, “Mano sang the first song after I started my own studio in 1999. I was working in the troup of Ilayaraja in 1986 and took a big step by taking loan from bank and buy some musical instruments. That is when the music duo Raj – Koti lent support to me and took me in their group. I am very grateful to them. They used to compose very good music. Half of their tunes did not see the light of the day as it was beyond the time. I heard the story of Somberi and felt that it has very good emotional value. I wish luck to the unit of Somberi.”
