Bay Area Telugu Association (BATA)’s annual “flagship” event and the most popular event in the Bay Area Telugu community. శుభకృతు నామ సంవత్సర Ugadi Mahotsavam, was a grand success, held at India Community Center, Milpitas, California. It was well attended by over 3000 guests throughout the day. The event started at 10AM with Youth Talent Show (Dancing, Singing in Classical and Film&Folk categories), continued till 11 PM with an array of cultural programs. Other high lights include Food festival (వివాహ భోజనంబు), Clothing and Jewelry mela. It was a festive atmosphere all around, as people were glad to attend events in person after a long time due to covid pandemic. Finale was Popular Tollywood singer Manisha Eerabahtini’s (from BayArea) live music concert.
There was a huge support from the business community. The event was Presented by Sanjay Tax Pro, Powered by realtor Nagaraj Anniah and other sponsors Include Srini Goli (Real Estates) Apex Consulting, PNG jewelers, Rite Care & Sagar Kotha (Realtor).
The venue decorations captured the Telugu New Year, Ugadi spirit. The entry of the venue was packed with vendor tables with variety of Indian traditional jewelry, clothing, real estate, financial & tax services. Ugadi Pachadi was served to all the guests.
There was an overwhelming response to the competitions this year with over 250+ kids enthusiastically participating in classical, folk/ film singing & dancing. The judges had a very difficult time to pick winners.
The main cultural program started at 5:00 pm, and started with classical dance ballot by Nrithyamanasa Performing Arts Center. And next to follow were showcase performances by over 100 kids – Kurraloi Kurrallu, Joru ga Husharuga, Kerintha (Retro dance hits), Kavvintha, Yuvatharangam, Naatu Naatu (Foot tapping dances to latest hits by BATA Youth team)
Comedy skit జాతి రత్నాలు(Jaathi Ratnalu) a hilarious take on how families coped with various issues during the covid, it was rib tickling and laugh riot.
This is the 50th milestone year for BATA. On this momentous occasion a logo was unveiled and audio video clip was launched by Dr. T.V Nagendra Prasad (CG SFO Indian Consulate).
BATA team is planning to organize a grand event to celebrate in summer 2022. Other dignitaries include Fremont City Mayor Lily Mei, Milpitas Mayor Rich Tran, Milpitas Police Captain Frank Morales, Assembly member Alex Lee, Santa Clara supervisor Cindy Chavez.
Paatasala team was recognized on this occasion; Paatasala is an initiative by TANA and BATA to promote and teach Telugu language. Students performed skits. TANA Secretary Sateesh Vemuri & Ram Thota (TANA regional representative) attended.
Finally, the much awaited and one of the highlights of the evening, Singer Manisha’s live concert. Manisha mentioned, she is extremely thrilled to perform at BATA, and remember fond memories when she was a kid. She performed mix of old hits (60/70’s) and latest chart buster hits.
BATA president Harinath Chikoti thanked the audience and participants for making this yet another grand event. He applauded all the volunteers for toiling hard and thanked Bata team for their support. BATA committee thanked and recognized the sponsors on the stage for their continued support.
