Apart from its fabled postproduction activities, Prasad Labs
at Jubilee Hills check post also forms an ideal location for
film shooting. On entering the sprawling complex, one is greeting
by youngsters, both boys and girls with books in their hands,
looking perplexed as a couple of rowdies take on the hero.
The SVR Arts & Science College formed the backdrop for
the sets.
The
scene was being shot for Vaishno Academy's maiden production
Idiot starring Ravi Teja in title role opposite Rakshitga,
who makes her debut in Telugu movies. Poori Jagannath, the
director of the Kannada version, Appu - a huge hit
then, is the producer - director. His versatility comes to
the fore as even, the story screenplay and dialogues are his
own brainchild.
Ram
- Lakshman have choreographed the mock fight sequences, which
are part of hero's endeavor to make the heroine hate him.
The outright brash and pushy nature of hero becomes an object
of abhorrence for her. Watching him getting involved in petty
brawls every now and then, her hatred towards him keeps on
growing. A son of police constable, the hero is straightforward
man. His psyche, at times, appears even strange to his parents.
The story revolves around the cadre difference that arises
as an offshoot of the hero's passionate love affair with the
police commissioner's daughter. The rest of the story hinges
how he wins the hand in the end after crossing all the hurdles.
The narration is engrossing with the subtle elements entertainment
carefully juxtaposed to restrained the seriousness, yet give
the whole script a comic flavor.
The
Kannada version is expected to cross the benchmark of Rs.
15 crores, with debutant Puneeth Raj Kumar, son of veteran
actor Rajkumar, playing the lead role. Raishita played the
female lead in original as well.
Poori
Jagannath, who earlier gave Ravi Teja the image of lover boy
in Itlu Sravani Subramanyam
is now showcasing his talent as an action hero. Of course,
apart from six fight sequences each composed in a new style,
his role evokes few laughers too, as there is a comic tinge
to his rugged nature, the director informs. "The songs
are all situational and leads the story," he says. Among
the principal actors, Prakash Raj, Kota Srinivasa Rao and
Sangeetha are cast in the key roles in this family fare. Peddada
Murthy, Bhaskarabhatla Ravi Kumar nd Kandikonda have penned
the lyrics marvelously tuned by Chakri. Shyam K Naidu handled
the camera. Idiot is due for release in August.
