Triple platinum disc of Nagarjuna’s latest film King was celebrated at Prasad Labs on the night of 8 January 2009.

We decided on the title first and then prepared the story – Kona Venkat
Story writer Kona Venkat said, “The newspapers and internet media propagated that King was the title of forthcoming Nagarjuna’s venture and we found the title to be exciting enough. We cooked a story to suit the title. Our combination (Seenu Vytla, Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan) has good way of working things out and King happened. Only Nagarjuna can justify the royal title of King.”

Smoothest project I ever worked on – Devi Sri Prasad
Devi Sri Prasad said, “I delivered all musical hits in Seenu Vytla combination. It is a hattrick film with Nagarjuna after Manmadhudu and Mass. This is the smoothest and uncomplicated project I ever worked on. Sahiti wrote an amazing song reflecting the Telangana tradition and Rama Jogaiah Sastri penned beautiful lyrics.”

I predicted that King would become a big hit – Srihari
Srihari said, “After listening to the story, I told Seenu Vytla that the film is going to be a big hit. The range will increase now and will break the records as well. Nagarjuna blindly trusted the director and followed and performed whatever Seenu Vytla asked him to do.”

Nagarjuna gave me freedom – Seenu Vytla
Seenu Vytla said, “I would like to thank Devi Sri Prasad for scoring hit songs and nice background music. The main reason for the success of this film is Nagarjuna’s freedom given to me. It is a team work and we had good team for King film. Siva Prasad Reddy is a comfortable director and I want to work with him again. Srihari contributed a lot towards his dialogues in this film.”

King is a new year gift to me - Nagarjuna
Nagarjuna said, “I would like to thank D Siva Prasad Reddy for spending lot of money and producing the film though it went over-budget. He gave a big hit to me with King. I love working with him again and Siva Prasad Reddy is going to produce my next film. I would like to thank Srihari for predicting that this film will become a big hit. Going to King’s shoot was like going to a party. I don’t work on holidays and Sundays. But they made me work for King on Deepavali day and Sundays. Brahmanandam beat me on my legs in the film. I am sure that I will get an opportunity to return the favor (giggles). Brahmanandam also gave good tunes on screen as a music director. I would like to thank cinematographer Prasad Murella for swift execution of his work. Without him, the project would have taken 30 more working days. Ram and Laksham were comfortable action directors and I could not feel any stress while doing stunts in this film. Trisha did well. I would like to thank Mamata Mohandas for her sportiveness in doing this film. I became a fan of her. She is hot on the screen. I had so much of trust in this project that I went abroad immediately after the last working day without looking at the first copy. I watched the film on 27 December after returning from abroad. After working for 3 days with Seenu Vytla, I realized his potential and commitment. And left the onus of the entire project to him. He always thinks about cinema. He has command over 24 crafts of filmmaking. At the same time he prefers teamwork. I wanted to work with him after watching Dhee. King is a new year gift to me. I would also like to thank my costumer Shilpa (Mumbai) and make-up man Chandra.”
