ANR International award for the year 2009 is given to LataMangeshkar on 1st February at a function organized in Taj Krishna. CM Rosaiah, Central Minister Vilash Rao deshmukh, T Subbirami Reddy, ANR and Nagarjuna Akkineni attended this function.
Vilas Rao Desmukh donated 5 crores to AP flood relief fund. BHEL, Hyderabad also announced the same amount as donation.
Speaking on this occasion ANR said, “Lata Mangeshkar is a world-renown artist and she won Bharata Ratna as well. This award is a small honor compared to her achievements. I am 86 and she is 88. Happiness is something that keeps elder people like us alive. I would like to thank her for coming to Hyderabad and accepting this honor.”
Lata Mangeshkar said, “Artists like us (me & ANR) worked hard and struggled a lot to come into this position. I saw Saigal’s Devdas as a kid and watched ANR’s Devdas again. I liked ANR’s Devdas a lot and watched it several times. I have become a fan of ANR after watching Devdas. I saw many films of ANR later. I am lucky enough to sing in Telugu as well and my first Telugu song became a chartbuster. I regard singer Suseela as my sister. I like the people of Andhra and there is lot of similarities between Andhra people and Maharashtra people.” ANR Award links:
