Nandi awards for the year 2008 were presented at a function organized in Lalitha Kala Thoranam on the night of 16 March (Ugadi). Chief Minister K Rosaiah attended this function as chief guest. Minister for cinematography J Geeta Reddy presided over the function.

In addition to Nandi awards – NTR Award (Jamuna), Raghupati Venkaiah award (Vijaya Nirmala), BN Reddy award (KB Tilak) and Nagireddy Chakrapani award (Ramesh Prasad) were also presented.

CM Rosaiah said, “Tammareddy Bharadwaja selected the awards without any bias. Let us give the Nandi awards as per the schedule from next time onwards. Lots of attendants were requesting me about stopping video piracy. Chiranjeevi has also spoken about it at length in assembly. There are proper laws against piracy, but it need to be implemented with lot more commitment. AP Government will also work towards eradicating video piracy. .
