Month of March 2007
I don't know how special this month is for other movie lovers, but for me this is the best month I have ever enjoyed till date. Wondering why? The reason is that there were 5 excellent movies got released in this month. They are
1. WATER
2. APOCALYPTO
3. 300
4. NAMESAKE
5. NAMASTE LONDON
I keenly await to watch good movies. It could be either English , Hindi or Telugu. Don't ask me how excited I will be, when I come to know that a movie is good, especially after reading the reviews. For me, there are three sources for movie reviews. 1. Idlebrain.com 2. JeeviMovie.com 3. Times of India - Saturday news paper Review by Nakhat Khazmi. If the movie rating for a particular movie is good, then I cannot control myself from booking the tickets in the theater with the biggest screen.
First movie I saw last month was WATER. The first impression I had was... ok. this has been nominated for Oscars, so the movie should be boring. I dared to see the movie because for the past many months there were no good movies. The movie was excellent. I was so happy. I told all my friends that's its a must watch. The best thing I liked about the movie was the emotions and then the cinematography. In one word its a classic. Deepa Mehta, hats off to you.
The second movie was APOCALYPTO. The day I read the movie review on JeeviMovie.com,...that's it. I started waiting for Friday..that was the day when the movie was getting released. Excellent one. If you haven't seen it yet on big screen....I will say ...you have missed the adventure of a lifetime. Mel Gibson, hats off man.
Then comes 300. Too much action..adrenaline pumping with max. force. That's what I like about the movie. The hero...uffff. ULTIMATE.
Then the NAMESAKE. Get a DVD and watch the movie. You will realize the true value of your parents. Also Irfan Khan and Tabu prove that they are the best. Folks living outside India and folks wishing to leave India in future must see it. Its the effect that remains over you after seeing the movie.
Finally its NAMASTE LONDON. I heard people say that the movie is between ok and good..but no. I would say that it’s a good entertainer, taken very neatly. After Lageraho munnabhai, I think this is the next classic entertainer in Bollywood. I always used to feel that most of the Hindi movies are the same and there is less scope for improvement, but no. Nameste London proved this wrong.
So the month of March 2007 proved to be a once in a lifetime happening in the movie world. Hats off to all the movie makers.
