Godavari 50days function was held on a Yacht at Silver lake marina, Grapevine lake in Dallas on July 9th Sunday.
Total of 100 people attended this black tie event. While men came in black and gray suites, women wore traditional sarees and dresses. People started coming in from 7 pm onwards and Yacht “Loan star Lady” began its cruise at 8 pm once Hero Sumanth and Director Sekhar Kammula walked in.
It was almost a full moon night and three and half hours ride in to the lake that brought lot of sweet memories too many. Scenic sun setting, Godavari background music, elegant dress code, pleasant weather and nice breeze made the ride memorable. The cruise was about to finish at 10:30 pm but it had to be extended for an hour more looking at the happy times the guests are having on board.
The Yacht has 2 decks - a lower deck and an Upper deck each capable of holding 100 people simultaneously. A full bar with a bar tender, amazing finger foods (pepper chicken, chicken 65, Babycorn fry, Mixed pakoda, Veg Manchuria and soothing curd rice- Courtesy Mayuri Indian restaurant) and well lit upper deck, lot of photo flashes made the evening it Glamorous and glittering.
The official 50 days function started 9 pm on the upper deck with Steven O Neill of Microsoft playing the role of Master of Ceremony. He welcomed and congratulated Sekhar and Sumanth on success of Godavari. Steven O Neill made the evening start on a happy note with people bursting in laughter with his witty remarks on Indian Cinema and sekhar’s style of film making.
Manohar Reddy of Touring Talkies welcomed the guests and thanked every one for making Godavari a big success in USA. In association with KAD Imagilight Entertainment Touring Talkies distributed Godavari movie in overseas.
Martin Schmidt gave the toast speech and congratulated Godavari team. Hero Sumanth cut the cake and opened the champagne bottle with Sekhar Kammula. People were having such a good time, that some of them even removed their shoes and socks to enjoy the pleasant breeze like.
Smt. Rajeshwari took the interviews of the guests as well as the stars of the ceremony. Radio Salam Namaste president Jaipal Reddy and his team was also present.
Murthy Mulukutla, TANTEX President, Dr. C.R. Rao, TANTEX Secretary and Prasad Thotakura, TANTEX Special Programs Chairman attended the program.
Prasad Thotakura said, "I congratulate Director Sekhar Kammula for making a good family entertainment movie, Sumanth on his natural acting skills and Manohar Reddy of Touring Talkies to come up with a splendid idea of celebrating 50 days function of Godavari on Grapevine like on a big yacht. It was a memorable evening for all guests. This is the first time in the history of 75 years of movie industry to celebrate a 50 days function in USA that too on a lake".
Every body wished the cruise never ended.
Side light: IB contest winner Ramesh Babu, from Atlanta was late and missed the boat. Manohar Reddy (Touring Talkies) arranged a speed boat to catch the Loanstar Lady.
