                   Poem
                    on Sankranthi by Srinivas Kanchibhotla
Nirvikalpam - A state of unison with the Supreme (vikalpam - having an alternate idea. nir+vikalpam - having no alternative; absolute). The concept that the seeker and the truth are indistinguishable reflects in the Advaita philosophy - aham brahmasmi. In here, the question of what is truth is not too far (or in fact, the same as) from self realization.
Nirgunam - Absence of traits. Just like the white light of sun which is an amalgamation of the 7 constituent colors, triguNam (satwa + rajas + tamas) lays down the path to nirguNam. In these, no one individual trait paves the road to realization (just like how all the 3 purushArdhas (dharma, ardha, kAma) are needed to attain mOksha). The passion and longing (rAjasam) need to collide with ignorance and arrogance (tAmasam) to light the wick of knowledge (satwa). Note the parallel to "ksheera sagara madhanam". In here the devatas are represented as the rAjasam, and the rAkshasas as tAmasam. Both them work together to churn the sea of knowledge (the act of sAtwikam) and the result - amruta tatwam.
NirvikAram - Nothing changes here. The life force retains its vitality through the changing lives, changing forms, and changing faces. Despite all these changes, nothing changes (refer to the statement, change is the only thing that is constant). The game continues on and on.
Siva tatwam is characterized by the above three traits - nirvikalpa nirguNa nirvikAra roopam
