This Eega buzzes really high
gabbar singh

Ever heard of a story that picks up pace with the death of the hero and ends with the death of the villain and second rebirth of the hero. Confusing, isn’t it? You would have to watch this perfect picture to get an idea how one man’s vision could shape up into a masterpiece with the right efforts and support of an able crew.

The biggest compliment that I can give SS Rajamouli after watching Eega is he is capable of conjuring magic out of thin air. The fact that he's made even a pesky detestable insect like a fly seem cute and lovable is a big feather in his already full hat.

The way he spins a fairy tale like romance interspersed with a vengence drama is commendable.

The movie starts off with an immediately likeable love story between Samantha(who looks really pretty and acts well too) and Nani(who leaves his mark throughout the movie inspite of his being a 40 min role). In comes the villain Sudeep, a womaniser and a billionaire. Sudeep's is a very brave effort considering that he had to act all through imagining the fly at every place as the CG effects would have been done later on. He excels in the role and makes us hate him thoroughly within the first few scenes.

The entire story revolves around just three characters and still you never get bored. There was an initial apprehension that the movie may turn out to be a pull off from various hollywood flicks as is the wont for 'different' movies nowadays.

Rajamouli continues with his fetish for Agoras, rebirth and black magic after Magadheera and manages to sneak in a few such scenes. But they are not as violent. There is minimal vulgarity and the narration is never hindered by unnecessary songs. Humour is derived from the incidents rather than the characters. The background music is the biggest asset for the movie and makes up for the lack of opulent sets and item songs. It is through the music that the fly conveys its feelings and gets the viewers to empathise with its situations. The biggest piece of cake goes to the Special effects team for their well coordinated and creative work. Never in the entire course of the movie do you get the feeling that the eega is not a part of the surroundings.

Kids would specifically like the part immediately after the fly takes birth and the entire world is shown through its tiny eyes.

The concept of a fly taking revenge may seem too megalomaniacal but when you actually see the presentation and picturization of the entire movie, you begin to believe that it could happen. As Sudeep's character asks halfway into the movie-' Chinna jantuvulu kaksha teerchukuntaya?'. The final scene which shows the fly being reborn again seems a little over the top. Yet as Rajamouli would agree “All’s well that ends well” especially when a movie that garners such positive ‘buzz’.
