Vijay (Sudheer Babu) is not a regular boy next door. He dabbles in art and prepares himself to become a child book illustrator. His father (Naresh) who is a movie fanatic rents out the house for a film shoot. Sameera (Aditi Rao Hydari), the current female superstar is the heroine of the film. Both of them get off well and the inevitable happens. He proposes to her. But she rejects him though she holds feelings for him. Rest of the story is all about a misunderstanding and how they resolve it!
Actors: Sudheer Babu invents a new persona for himself with this film. He looks very natural and extremely confident. There is finesse in his acting and elegance in his body language. He is equally authoritative in both emotional episodes and causal scenes. Aditi Rao Hydari plays the role of a film actress and she is authentic. She did show variations between the glamour side of moviestar and vulnerability of a soft-hearted woman who is struggling with a personal situation. Naresh provides popular entertainment as a man who wants to become an actor in his 50’s (it reminds me of Brahmanandam character in Dookudu). Pavitra Lokesh looks more endearing in this film as a mother who understands the inner turmoil of her son. She does a wonderful job. Among the friends group, Rahul Ramakrishna makes an impact with his freestyle acting. Hari Teja plays heroine’s friend character and she has a couple of important scenes that are vital for the film. She is extremely good. Tanikella Bharani played a cameo and explains very well about the basic concept. Each and every character in the film is written and cast properly.
Technical departments
Other departments: Music by Vivek Sagar is very good. The songs of the film are soothing and melodious. Background music is different and reminds us of background music we usually listen in old European films. PG Vinda comes up with a great job by giving glossy visuals just like the way he did for Ami Tumi film. Dialogues by Mohan Krishna Indraganti are fabulous. I loved the dialogues written for roof top episode (about love of old couple) and mother - son episode (A man is called a real man if he deals rejection of a woman gracefully). He has also written a few hilarious dialogues on film industry (Telugu audiences paina oka 5 years nundi herogaa ruddataaniki try chestunnaru kada. Vaade hero). Art direction by Ravinder is another notable aspect of the film. Editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is good. Production values are good. 
Analysis: Sammohanam is a love story between a guy with a strong inner personality and a soft-hearted female film star. It’s a film that goes against regular Telugu commercial format. The love is subtle and humor is healthy. It’s very difficult to fill a film with full of conversations. If the narration is not good enough, the film might end up being a verbose film (sodhi cinema). Mohan Krishna Indraganti has mastered the art of narrating film with dialogues. On a whole, Sammohanam is a different love story sprinkled with comedy and you may watch it if you excuse slow narration!
