Review

Story
Karthi (Gopichand) works in a bank and is a passionate coach of Kabaddi for the local girl’s team in a coastal village. The local school which is built by the father of Karthi is facing the threat of extinction and the only choice is to make the girl’s kabaddi team win the title at national level. The main story of the film is about what Karthi does when the girls who go to New Delhi for finals disappear.

Artists Performance

Gopichand is apt for the role of the coach. He is terrific in action sequences and mass episodes. He is also pretty good in sentiment scenes. Tamanna plays the supporting character of a hot-blooded coach. Digangana Suryavanshi is good as the lady who is in love with the hero. Bhumika Chawla and Rahman play important roles. Tarun Arora is menacing with a tanned skin tone and a muscular body. Posani Krishna Murali excels in a sentimental dialogue in the second half. Preethi Asrani is glamorous as Kabaddi team captain. Rao Ramesh is good, but is limited to the first half. Anketa Maharana (Apsara) has sizzled in an item song towards the climax.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: Though the basic theme of the film is about sports, Sampath Nandi made it an action drama in the second half. You can see similarities in the basic story with A1 Express (winning a national final to save the school). Director Sampath Nandi is known for mass quotient in his films and he sticks to his strengths while directing the film. He made sure that there is a strong family emotion in the film throughout. First half of the film is neat with a balanced approach. However, the focus is less on the game in the second half and is more on the hero finding/chansing villains in the second half. Screenplay should have been better. The climax fight is designed for the masses by keeping the logic aside.

Other departments: Background music by Mani Sharma is a big asset. He has given good songs too (Jwala Reddy song is good on screen too). Cinematography by Soundar Rajan is another plus. It’s very stylish. Dialogues written by Sampath Nandi are good and are mostly aimed at families and masses. Action sequences are aimed for the masses. Hero of the film uses Thor’s hammer in the climax (for a cinematic high). Editing is alright. Production values of the film are good.

Analysis: Seeti Maarr is a film that needs to be watched in theatre instead of on OTT as it gives theatrical experience (sound, big canvas and crowds). Sampath Nandi sticks to his strengths and made a film for the masses/families. There are over-the-top scenes and violent fights. However, it’s an interesting watch for the audiences who missed watching films on the big screen. If you love Telugu action films and if you are looking for mass theatrical experience, this might satisfy you partly!
