Ram Gopal Varma’s blue-eyed girl Priyanka Kothari is in Hyderabad to promote her 7 August release Agyaat (Adavi in Telugu) starring Nitin. Idlebrain.com met Priyanka for a brief chitchat. Here are the excerpts -

Why did you change your name from Nisha Kothari to Priyanka Kothari?
My real name is Priyanka Kothari. A few people in film industry influenced me to change my name to Nisha. My father was unhappy with a false name and scolded me. I couldn’t connect with the name Nisha. So I decided to use my original name Priyanka Kothari.

What is your first movie?
I am basically from Delhi. The first film I acted in was James. But the first movie that released was Sarkar in which I played a small role.

Why are stuck up with Ram Gopal Varma?
I have done only five films with him so far. I have to do many more films with him in the future.

Tell us about your character in Agyaat?
I am doing the role of a heroine called Asha. She is an arrogant woman with strong will. Then scary things start happening in a jungle they shoot in.

Tell us about your co-actor Nitin?
I loved working with him. He has got a strong screen presence. He is also a fantastic dancer. He gave me diet tips too.

What is secret behind your slim figure?
I do Yoga for an hour every day. I do weight training for three times a week. I do swim regularly. I eat right food, drink lots of water and feel happy all the time.

What is your favourite food?
I love rice and dal cooked by my mom. I eat healthy and vegetarian food. My mom is my dietician.

What are your strengths and weaknesses?
I am passionate about films. I have strong will power. At the same time, I am extremely sensitive.

You seem to have no qualms about skin show?
Actors are like props on the sets. It’s director’s prerogative to use the actors as per the demand of scene. I am glamorous and I take it as a compliment. I got good body which I don’t mind exposing. I work hard to protect it.

What are your hobbies?
All my costumes in Agyaat movie were done by me. I like to go to Essel World in my spare time and I also love playing with kids.

What are your future projects?
I am doing a film with Puneet Rajkumar in Kannada. I have a few more assignments on my hand and I am going to announce them soon.
