Review

Story
Krishna (Siddhu Jonnalagadda) is a youngster who falls in love with a girl called Sathya (Shraddha Srinath) in his college. She later dumps him as she finds him to be immature. Then he falls in love with his junior Radha (Shalini Vadnikatti). In the following months, he meets Sathya again and she realises that he has become mature enough to fall in love with him again. A confused Krishna is deeply in love with both these girls. Rest of the story is all about how he sorts this problem out and what made him a confused man!

Artists Performance
Siddhu Jonnalagadda has been a good actor since the days of LBW, but didnt get a good break so far. Siddhu is completely natural and at home while playing the role of Krishna. His dialogue delivery is very good and tunes his expressions to match the casual tone of the character. Shraddha Srinath is exceptionally good as Sathya and you can observe her commanding attitude over the male character. Shalini Vadnikatti is good and confident. Her dialogue delivery is also good. Seerat Kapoor plays the character of a friend and she justifies. Viva Harsha is entertaining in a friend’s role. Jhansi suits the character of a single mother. Sampath Raj plays a vital role. Samyuktha Hornad is good as the hero's sister. 3 of the primary actresses (Shraddha, Shalini & Samyuktha) in this film are from Kannada film industry. All other actors are cast aptly. It’s nice to see the mentioning of names of dubbing artists (Veena Ghantasala & Sai Swetha PV) along with heroines in the title cards of this film.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: It’s basically a triangular love story of a selfish guy who wants both the girls. Like many psychological issues, the origin lies in his childhood. Ravikanth Perepu who directed a gripping thriller Kshanam as his debut has taken 4 years to deliver his second film Krishna and his Leela. It’s comparatively easy to direct a thriller compared to a romcom. He proves his mettle as a director again with this film by delivering a mature romantic comedy that has some deep conversations and a different narrative technique (breaking the fourth wall). Having too many dialogues among very limited characters is a risky proposition. If not handled well, this film has the danger of being called a boring film. Director Ravikanth finds the right balance without losing sight of the main theme of the film. You can also see influences of Woody Allen (long/deep conversations and fourth wall breaking narration). However. The film orientation shows men’s side (narrow-minded and chauvunistic though there is an explanation in the climax).

Other departments: Background score by Sricharan Pakala is an asset and songs in this film are unobtrusive for narration. Cinematography by Shaniel Deo & Sai Prakash complements the romantic mood of the film. Conversations by Ravikanth are very good. Interestingly this film is edited by three editors - Garry BH (professional editor), Ravikanth (film director) and Siddhu (male lead). Editing is decent. Art direction by Ravi Anthony is good. Production vaues by Suresh Production are adequate.

Analysis: Krishna and his Leela is a romantic comedy about a confused youngster Krishna who wants to two-time. It has deep conversations and comedy too. Plus points are casting, conversations and a mature story. On the flipside, limited characters and too many conversations might not be liked by everybody. The director has not deviated from the central point to jump into songs/comedy etc, which is a good sign. It’s nice to see a decent Telugu film making it’s way directing into OTT and hope that it inspires other filmmakers to come up with good content by not deviating for the sake of commercial elements. You may watch it!
