Sai Kumar’s son Adi is getting his dream debut with Prema Kavali film. Prema Kavali is releasing in over 200 screens on 25 Febraury. Here are the excerpts of chitchat -
Entry in films :
I have studied in PSBB (Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan), Chennai till my 7th class. Then we shifted to Hyderabad and I studied in St. Andrews till 10th class and did my intermediate in St. Johns. I completed my degree in Bhavan. I was interested in acting since childhood, but never expressed it to my father Sai Kumar. I am passionate about cricket and started playing it since I was in my 5th class. I used to play galli cricket in Chennai. St. Andrews has the history of producing Ranji cricketers for Hyderabad. I am an all-rounder (a fast bowler who can also bat decently). I got selected for Hyderabad's under-19 team and played under the captaincy of Ambati Rayudu. Pragyan Ojha was my roommate when our team visited Sri Lanka.
I was also getting trained at dancing while practicing cricket. When my dad organized KALA (Karnataka Andhra Lalithakala Academy) event, I evinced my interest to dance in front of Chiranjeevi. I am a huge fan of Chiranjeevi and I performed ‘Kodithe Kottalira’ song from Tagore. It impressed Chiranjeevi and he suggested that I should try my hand at movies. Since then I took films seriously.
I got trained in dances by Lawrence master. Pandian master who is famous in Chennai taught me fights for two years. I got trained in dialogues by Kakarala. I had a 5-month stint of acting training from Vizag Satyanand.
I used to shoot all my performances using cell phone and I transferred them to my dad’s mobile. Dad has shown those clips to Dr. Venkat and he got impressed. He asked my father not to launch me in a hurry. He said that he would do a grand launch for which I need to wait. Dad has a classmate called Venkat who is a good friend of director Vijaya Bhaskar. Vijaya Bhaskar had a bound script and he was looking for the right boy. Venkat has shown my portfolio/showreel to Vijaya Bhaskar. He felt that my looks suited the male lead perfectly. A meeting has been arranged between Dr. Venkat and Vijaya Bhaskar. That is how Prema Kavali happened. I am indebted to the producer Dr. Venkat for launching me in such a grand way.
Character in Prema Kavali:
I am playing a college boy character called Seenu who is also a NCC cadet. It is a pleasant love story with a bit of action elements.
What is your assessment of your strengths and weaknesses as an actor?
I have ease in performance. I am good with dances and fights. My dubbing is also reasonably good. On the flip side, I was little hyperactive in a few scenes. I tend to rush things up a little bit.
Each and every new-comer tries for a certain slot based on his capabilities. Which slot are you aiming at?
I will wait for the reactions of audiences. I will take the feedback and accordingly plan my career.
What do you do in your spare time?
I have a good circle of friends who doesn’t belong to film industry and I hangout with them. I know Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and English languages. I prefer watching films from all these languages.
Whats your gut feeling on Prema Kavali?
Prema Kavali has the signature of K Vijaya Bhaskar written on it. It is a neat and pleasant love story.
